First produced in 1980, this pioneering compact drum machine was the first in Boss’s successful Dr. Rhythm Series, providing basic sounds and controls that became a hit among all tiers of musicians looking to add drum accompaniment to both practice and home recording sessions.
Simple yet effective, the DR-55 stores up to six 16-step drum patterns and two additional 12-step patterns (for 3/4 and 6/8 rhythms). The four onboard sounds include Snare Drum, Kick Drum, Rim Shot and Hi-Hat, all of which are comparable to that of Roland’s CR-series or TR-machines like the TR-505 and TR-606, with global Volume, Tempo, Tone, and Accent controls and a bright Tempo indicator LED. The DR-55 features Step-Mode programming, achieved via the Start and Stop buttons, with a Variation switch enabling the player to alter the pattern on the fly, and Hi-Hats can be programmed via an independent switch (Off, 8ths, 12ths, or 16ths).
This unit has pristine graphics with only faint wear on the enclosure edges. The original box is included.
