2022 Fender Traditional ‘60s Jazz Bass Fretless Sunburst, Japan MIJ, Jaco

2022 Fender Traditional ‘60s Jazz Bass Fretless Sunburst, Japan MIJ, Jaco

Up for sale, a 2022 Fender Traditional ‘60s Jazz Bass Fretless in showroom clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with hangtags. A Fender Japan exclusive model uncommon outside its country of origin, the “Made in Japan” Traditional series instruments adhere closely to vintage spec both aesthetically and tonally, and this particular iteration was designed to closely mirror Jaco Pastorius’ famed fretless model.

Tonewoods include a basswood body with a maple neck capped by a thick slab rosewood fingerboard, and this bass weighs 7lbs 13oz. The bridge pickup has the power, burp, and presence that ensures a Jazz Bass cuts through in ensemble situations, and it's easy to dial in the right amount of midrange growl and fundamental thump (particularly with the Tone knob rolled back to taste), with a wide array of tonalities achievable via various blend of the two single coils. This Traditional ‘60s Jazz Bass Fretless has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 flatwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Slender U, measuring .815” at the nut, .915” at the octave
-Fretboard: Rosewood slab, modern 9 1/2” radius, lined
-Scale Length: 34”
-Nut: 1 1/2”, bone
-Tuners: Clover buttons
-Serialization: “Made in Japan,” JD22-prefix

Body Specs:

-Wood: Basswood
-Pickups: Vintage-Style single coil x2
-Controls: Volume x2, Tone
-Harness: CTS 250k pots
-Hardware: Bridge with steel barrel saddles, control plate
-Plastics: Pointer knobs

The three-tone Sunburst finish is accurate to vintage-spec with a burst that is only two-tone beneath the area where a pickguard would typically be mounted. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a few minor nicks on the body. The ambered gloss on the neck profile shows no wear.

A Fender-branded gigbag is included.
