Up for sale, a Wes Jeans Texas Edition Fuzz Face in excellent, 100% original condition. Hand-built in Marshall, TX by Texas blues legend Wes Jeans, this Fuzz Face is a faithful recreation of a late ‘60s-style Fuzz Face (more specifically, Eric Johnson’s famous 1968 circuit), featuring a pair of BC183 silicon transistors.
Among the various Fuzz Face iterations, those with BC183s are prized for their higher overall gain and unique tone that is much gnarlier than their germanium siblings. BC183 Fuzz Faces are considered by many to be “dimed all the time” fuzzes, and while this particular example does offer some unique, smoothed-out tones with the Fuzz rolled off, it really gives up the goods when the knob is cranked up, delivering tons of harmonic complexity, bite, and searing high-gain bliss.
